My Summer Adventure has Begun

Today we did some exploring and mostly walked around trying to see if we could find the school and church. It was fun walking around and seeing all of the little shops and parks. We are the only white people in this city, and I have never been honked and whistled at so many times in one day before. When we started our walk, a dude started following us and when we finally slowed down to cross a street, he started talking to us. His name was Christian, and he spoke English very well. He just asked us what we were doing here and said, "Welcome to Pachuca!" Then he turned around and left. It was kind of funny having him follow us, but he was very nice.

We ate lunch at a restaurant right next to the school where we will be eating every lunch. I am in love with Mexican food. It was so delicious and so authentic. I am definitely going to get fat on tortillas and rice this summer. They kept bringing us food too! It was like a five course meal. On our way back to the apartment Savannah stopped and said, "Guys, it smells so good!" We all took a whiff, and wow! We were standing right outside a panadería (bakery). So we went inside and got some pastries. Oh, they tasted better than the smelled! It is going to be extremely difficult passing by the panadería everyday and not stopping for some more
delicious bread when it is only 4 pesos each!

We went out to dinner and ate gringas at a little restaurant that the head teacher from last semester showed us. It was so awesome to talk to her about all the things she did in Mexico this spring. She gave us so many great tips and ideas of things to do. I can't wait to go on more adventures!
